Rayshaude Hudson dies in fatal Fayette shooting

Fatal Fayette shooting death of Rayshaude Hudson – Obituary

A mass shooting that erupted during the Fayette Festival Saturday night claimed the life of 22-year-old Rayshaude Hudson, the son of Jefferson County Judge Maurice Hudson. The incident occurred on Main Street in Fayette, Mississippi, and also left five others injured.

Jefferson County Coroner Ricky McDonald confirmed Hudson’s identity on Sunday. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for help from Fayette authorities around 10:30 p.m. that evening. Sheriff Travis Patten explained that although his team first ensured Adams County was secure, they later traveled to Jefferson County to assist with the chaotic aftermath.

According to Patten, his deputies encountered heavy traffic coming from Jefferson County as they moved out to assist. After securing local areas in Adams County, they proceeded to the hospital in Jefferson County, arriving just before midnight. Law enforcement agencies coordinated efforts to manage the situation, including blocking roads for helicopter landings and helping injured individuals get medical attention.

Many victims were transported to hospitals across Natchez, Claiborne, and Warren counties. Patten described the scene as chaotic and emotional, with law enforcement officers working together to control the area and preserve evidence.

The shooting took place near the end of an otherwise peaceful event. Fayette Mayor Londell “Rock” Eanochs, Police Chief Shawn McMiller, and Jefferson County Sheriff James Bailey were all on-site helping with the investigation.

Authorities are appealing to the public to come forward with any information about the individuals responsible. A $5,000 reward has been offered for the names of those involved, with officials urging anyone who can help to assist in delivering justice to the affected families.
