William McCoy dies in 6 Porter County crash

Fatal Porter County crash death of William McCoy – Obituary

William McCoy, 62, of Portage, Indiana, lost his life Friday afternoon in a tragic crash on U.S. Highway 6 in Porter County that also claimed the life of another motorcyclist.

According to the Porter County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened when a 2023 Audi Q7P heading eastbound near White Thorne Lane began slowing to make a left turn. It was rear-ended by a 2017 Nissan Rogue, which forced the Audi into westbound traffic.

The Audi then struck two motorcycles, including the one operated by McCoy. Authorities responded to the scene at approximately 1:47 p.m. and found both motorcyclists unresponsive. Life-saving efforts were made, but McCoy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
