Fatal Lee County shooting death of Oscar Eiland – Obituary
Oscar Eiland, a 58-year-old resident of Beulah, was fatally shot Sunday evening in Lee County, Alabama. The tragic event unfolded on June 1 around 7:18 p.m. on Lee Road 685.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find Eiland suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was rushed to East Alabama Medical Center but was pronounced dead at 8:35 p.m. CST. Authorities confirmed that a 58-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the shooting.
The Lee County Coroner’s Office, led by Daniel Sexton, is overseeing the investigation and will transport Eiland’s remains to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy. Meanwhile, sheriff’s investigators continue to examine the circumstances that led to the deadly confrontation.
