Fatal Shelby County train crash death of Wesley E. Carver – Obituary

Wesley E. Carver, a 19-year-old resident of Neoga, Illinois, tragically died in a train collision early Sunday morning in rural Shelby County. According to Illinois State Police, Carver was driving westbound on County Road 400 North around 4:20 a.m. when he failed to stop at a stop sign and bypassed the railroad crossing gates. His vehicle was struck by a train, causing a fatal accident.

Carver was the driver and one of four young men inside the car, all of whom lost their lives in the crash. The train did not derail during the collision. Authorities continue to investigate the events that led to this devastating incident.
