Kaylah Rusaw, 19, from Brunswick, lost her life early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle accident on Old Bath Road. Police reports state that around 8:46 a.m., Rusaw was driving her 2016 Nissan Rogue northbound when she lost control, crossed the center line, and collided with a tree.

Authorities noted that Rusaw was not wearing a seatbelt and that speed likely played a role in the crash. After the impact, she became trapped inside her vehicle.

First responders from Brunswick Fire and Rescue worked to free her and performed CPR at the scene, but their efforts to save her were unsuccessful. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains active.
