Fatal Kane County pedestrian crash death of Samson Isom – Obituary

Samson Isom, 42, of Aurora, lost his life early Monday morning after being struck by a van in Kane County. The crash occurred just before 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Farnsworth Avenue and Summit Avenue in Aurora Township.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, Isom was walking southbound along the roadway near the fog line when he was hit by a southbound 2017 white GMC work van. Emergency responders transported Isom to Rush Copley Medical Center with critical injuries, where he was later pronounced dead.

The van’s driver, a 36-year-old man from Aurora, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Ascension Mercy Hospital for treatment. Authorities have not issued any citations as of now, and they stated it remains unclear whether impairment was involved in the crash.
