Fatal El Paso police shootout death of Salvador Valdiviezo – Obituary

Salvador Valdiviezo, a 35-year-old man from El Paso, was killed during a police shootout following a domestic violence call in the Upper Valley area. The incident took place Sunday afternoon, June 1, when officers responded to a disturbance at a residence on the 6400 block of Passo Via Street near Borderland Road.

According to police spokesperson Sgt. Robert Gomez, as officers neared the home, Valdiviezo reportedly opened fire with a handgun. Both officers returned fire, striking Valdiviezo multiple times. A female officer was also wounded and was admitted to University Medical Center of El Paso, where she remains in stable condition.

Valdiviezo was taken to a hospital but later died from his injuries. The two officers involved, both with two years of service, have not been publicly named. Property records indicate Valdiviezo and Tiffanie Y. Valdiviezo purchased the home in 2022. Court documents show a Salvador Valdiviezo with a 2013 misdemeanor DUI conviction, though it is unclear if this refers to the same individual.

Three separate investigations are underway, including reviews by the Crimes Against Persons Unit, Internal Affairs Shooting Review Team, and Texas Rangers. This remains the only fatal police-involved shooting in El Paso County so far in 2025.
