Katherine Rodriguez, a 21-year-old woman from Compton, lost her life following a serious collision involving two vehicles and a Metro train in Long Beach. The accident took place late in the evening on May 23 at the intersection of 12th Street and Long Beach Boulevard. Authorities reported that Rodriguez was driving a 2014 Infinity Q50S southbound on Long Beach Boulevard without headlights when she collided with a 2019 Honda Accord making a turn onto Long Beach Boulevard from Anaheim Street.

The impact caused Rodriguez to lose control of her vehicle, which then struck a Metro train. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital where she later died from her injuries. Investigators are examining whether speed and impaired driving played a role in the crash. No injuries were reported among passengers on the Metro train.
