Jeanine Ethelwyn Owen, 66, lost her life after being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot in Citrus Heights on May 26. The incident occurred in the 6900 block of Sunrise Boulevard, where a driver moving slowly through a Foodmaxx parking area accidentally ran over Owen, according to police.

Authorities stated the male driver was not impaired, distracted, or under the influence of alcohol at the time. He remained at the scene and fully cooperated with law enforcement.

The Citrus Heights Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Officials have not confirmed whether Owen was experiencing homelessness.
