Fatal Lawrenceville shooting death of Michael Ehlinger – Obituary

Michael Ehlinger, 56, was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon outside a gas station near the intersection of Butler and 50th streets in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood.

Pittsburgh police reported that the shooting occurred shortly before 4 p.m. following a confrontation between two men. When officers arrived, they discovered Ehlinger lying beside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his chest. A bystander had attempted to assist him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities stated that the man involved in the dispute with Ehlinger called 911 and was later taken in for questioning at police headquarters.

The incident remains under active investigation.
