Fatal Mechanicsville head-on collision death of Marjorie Swann Boyers – Obituary
Marjorie Swann Boyers, 79, of Chaptico, Maryland, was killed Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle head-on crash on Mechanicsville Road.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office reported that the collision occurred around 1:15 p.m. near the 25000 block of Mechanicsville Road when Boyers’ 2018 Toyota Highlander crossed the center line and struck a 2013 Chrysler 200 driven by 31-year-old Megan Nicole Rowley of Mechanicsville. A juvenile passenger was also in Rowley’s vehicle. Boyers was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both Rowley and the child suffered life-threatening injuries and were airlifted to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Preliminary investigation indicates that speed and impairment were not factors in the crash.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has video footage is urged to contact Corporal Vincent Pontorno. The road was closed for several hours as emergency crews worked at the scene.
