Thanh Phan, 51, lost his life after being hit by an e-scooter in a deadly incident over the weekend in Perth’s central business district.

The tragedy occurred on Saturday night at the intersection of Murray and King streets while Phan was walking after having dinner. He was fatally struck by the e-scooter, making him the first pedestrian in Western Australia to die in such an accident.

Authorities have charged 25-year-old UK visitor Alicia Kemp with causing death by dangerous driving while under the influence of alcohol. In response to the incident, the City of Perth will halt its e-scooter rental operations starting today.
