Fatal Banks County car crash death of Cynthia Deckner Humphry – Obituary
Cynthia Deckner Humphry, a 70-year-old woman from Baldwin, was killed Sunday evening, June 1, in a single-vehicle crash near Homer in Banks County.
Emergency crews from Banks County Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched around 6:09 p.m. to 1312 Highway 198, where they discovered a vehicle in a ditch in front of Humphry’s residence. She was trapped in the vehicle and, after being freed, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Humphry had been driving on a private driveway when she attempted to bypass a closed gate by veering to the right. During the maneuver, she collided with a telephone pole. The impact caused the vehicle to veer off the left side of the driveway and plunge nearly 50 feet down an embankment.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
