Fatal Phillipsburg shooting death of Kevin Clervil – Obituary

Kevin Clervil, a resident of East Orange, was fatally shot outside a home on Summit Avenue in Phillipsburg early Monday morning, June 2, 2025.

Authorities responded to a 911 call around 4:30 a.m. reporting someone attempting to forcibly enter a residence. Upon arrival, police discovered Clervil outside the house with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital Warren Campus, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

 

Police confirmed that the person who called 911 knew Clervil, but further details about their relationship have not been released.

The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office and Phillipsburg Police Department are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Residents with any information are urged to contact the Phillipsburg Police Department’s non-emergency line.

 

This incident marks the third recent shooting in Phillipsburg amid a wave of violent crimes, including a stabbing that resulted in the death of 26-year-old Hadiyah Peggins in mid-May. Authorities continue to work to address the surge in violence affecting the community.
