Fatal Tucson Southside hit-and-run death of Robert Netherton – Obituary
Robert Netherton, age 63, tragically lost his life after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Tucson’s south side on the evening of May 24, 2025.
Around 9:30 p.m., deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a man lying in the roadway near the 3600 block of South Palo Verde Road. Emergency medical personnel attempted to save Netherton, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage that revealed a dark-colored pickup truck was involved in the collision. The vehicle is believed to be a 1999-2002 GMC or Chevrolet model with a white or faded hood and top, featuring a toolbox and spare tire in the bed. The truck is either a standard or extended cab.
Authorities continue to search for the driver and urge anyone with information to call 911 or 88-CRIME. Netherton’s passing is mourned by the community as an untimely loss.
