Fatal Streamwood stabbing death of Janiya Jenkins and Eyani Jones – Obituary

Janiya Jenkins, 21, and her younger sister, Eyani Jones, 10, were fatally stabbed in their Streamwood home last week, authorities confirmed. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office reported both sisters died from their injuries.

Streamwood police arrested their older brother, Jalonie Jenkins, 25, without incident at a Metra station in Downers Grove on Sunday night. He faces two counts of first-degree murder.

Officers responded to a call at the 1600 block of McKool Avenue around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, where they discovered the two victims deceased from stabbing wounds. The victims’ 7-year-old brother sought help from a neighbor shortly after the incident.

Neighbors described hearing screaming and chaos around the time of the attack. A close family friend recounted the horror of finding the girls and informing their mother, who was at work.

Friends and neighbors expressed deep sorrow, recalling the sisters as cherished and beloved. The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to gather information on this tragic case.
