Fatal Tucson hit-and-run crash death of Robert Netherton – Obituary

Authorities have identified 63-year-old Robert Netherton as the victim who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Tucson’s south side. The incident took place on the night of May 24 near the 3600 block of South Palo Verde Road.

Deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a man lying in the roadway around 9:30 p.m. Emergency personnel attempted life-saving efforts, but Netherton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators used nearby surveillance footage to determine that a dark-colored pickup truck, possibly a GMC or Chevrolet model from 1999 to 2002, was involved in the collision. The vehicle is believed to have a white or faded hood and roof, a toolbox in the bed, and a spare tire. It may be either a standard or extended cab model.

Authorities are continuing to search for the suspect and are urging anyone with information to contact 911 or the anonymous tip line at 88-CRIME.
