Fatal Channelview shooting death of Gilbert Rubalcava – Obituary

Authorities have identified Gilbert Rubalcava as the man who was fatally shot in Channelview, Texas, on the evening of May 24, 2025.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home near Avenue C and Avenue D around 7:30 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered Rubalcava lying unresponsive in the front yard. He was later pronounced dead due to injuries from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators stated that the fatal encounter stemmed from a conflict earlier that day between Rubalcava and another man. The suspect reportedly returned later and another argument led to the deadly shooting. The number of shots fired has not been confirmed.

Following the shooting, the suspect fled the area. Authorities have since identified the suspect and plan to release more details over the weekend.

The investigation remains ongoing.
