Krynn Schupback, a 27-year-old man from Bloomington, Illinois, died following a two-vehicle collision that occurred early Thursday morning on U.S. Route 66 in Logan County.

The crash was reported around 2:12 a.m. near 1500th Avenue, just north of Lincoln. Emergency personnel arrived at the site to find heavy damage to both vehicles involved. Schupback sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Lincoln Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room at 3:19 a.m.

The Illinois State Police and the Logan County Coroner’s Office are jointly investigating the incident to determine how the crash occurred. Authorities are working to identify contributing factors such as driver behavior, visibility, and roadway conditions.

Crashes on rural highways like Route 66 often prove deadly due to higher speeds and limited visibility during early morning hours. Officials continue to stress the importance of caution when traveling these roads, especially during low-light conditions.
