Fatal Warren motorcycle crash death of John Obermiyer – Obituary
John Obermiyer, 55, of Warren, was killed Monday evening in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of North Park Avenue and Comstock Street NE, according to local police.
Authorities say the accident occurred at 6:22 p.m. when a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling east on Comstock Street collided with Obermiyer’s motorcycle, which was heading north on North Park Avenue.
The force of the crash threw Obermiyer from his motorcycle, and he landed in a nearby vacant lot. He was transported to St. Joseph Warren Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators believe a stop sign violation may have played a role in the incident, though the crash remains under active investigation.
Obermiyer was known for his involvement with the Second Brigade Motorcycle Club, which recently helped escort the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial, The Wall That Heals, from Austintown to Packard Park and provided overnight security for the event.
