Fatal Elkridge car crash death of Saidou Zanguina – Obituary
Saidou Zanguina, a 30-year-old resident of Columbia, Maryland, lost his life in a multi-vehicle accident early this morning in Howard County involving a Maryland State Trooper.
Zanguina had been driving a Jeep Cherokee when the collision took place. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. A passenger riding in the same vehicle was taken to Shock Trauma with injuries. The trooper involved, stationed at the Maryland State Police Waterloo Barrack, was also transported to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and has since been released. Another individual, driving a GMC pickup, was taken to Howard County General Hospital for injury treatment.
The incident unfolded at approximately 2:02 a.m. along the southbound side of Interstate 95, just north of Maryland Route 100. Based on the initial findings, a Maryland State Trooper, operating an unmarked patrol vehicle while parked on the left shoulder of the interstate, was struck unexpectedly by the Jeep driven by Zanguina. The force of the impact propelled the Jeep into active traffic, where it was subsequently hit by a GMC pickup truck, a Lincoln SUV, and a Volkswagen car.
Authorities shut down lanes for around four hours to manage the aftermath, but they have since been reopened. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is currently conducting a detailed investigation, and the specific cause of the accident remains undetermined at this time.
