Fatal Paulding County car crash death of Kaiya Raine Klopfenstein – Obituary

A tragic single-vehicle accident in Paulding County, Ohio, early Saturday morning claimed the life of 17-year-old Kaiya Raine Klopfenstein from Defiance and left another teen seriously hurt.

Authorities from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert Post reported that the crash occurred at approximately 1:15 a.m. at the junction of County Road 133 and State Road 111 in Emerald Township.

Preliminary findings suggest that a 2004 Audi A6, heading north on County Road 133, did not stop at a posted stop sign, veered off the roadway, and collided with a tree.

The driver, 18-year-old Tyson Michael Ward of Oakwood, sustained severe injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Kaiya Raine Klopfenstein, a passenger in the car, was tragically pronounced dead at the crash site.

Emergency response was provided by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, Paulding Fire and EMS, the County Coroner’s office, and R&O Services.

Officials say the crash investigation is still ongoing.
