Fatal San Diego plane crash death of Jeremy Bingham – Obituary

Jeremy Bingham, along with his three adult sons—Bailey, Gavin, and Ayden—lost their lives in a tragic plane crash off the coast of Sunset Cliffs in San Diego on Sunday.

The four men, all from the same family in eastern Arizona’s Gila Valley, were among six individuals killed when a twin-engine Cessna crashed into the ocean around 12:30 p.m. The pilot and his pregnant wife, whose names were not disclosed, also died in the incident.

According to a GoFundMe campaign launched by Hope Lofgreen of Thatcher, Arizona, Jeremy was remembered as a devoted husband and father, admired for his generosity, dedication, and commitment to his family and community. His son Bailey, a new father, was described as patient and family-centered. Gavin was noted for his drive and compassion, while Ayden was remembered as the vibrant spirit of every gathering, known for his laughter and enthusiasm.

The aircraft had just taken off from San Diego International Airport when the pilot reported difficulties gaining altitude. Air traffic control attempted to redirect the flight to Naval Air Station North Island, located a mile away, but the plane crashed before it could land.

The Coast Guard and other agencies searched approximately 300 square miles of ocean for survivors over a 35-hour span before calling off the operation Tuesday morning.

The aircraft, once owned by a wellness company, had been sold two years ago to private individuals, according to a company spokesperson. The incident has left a deep void in the close-knit Gila Valley community.
