Fatal Charlton motorcycle crash death of Cody W. Groat – Obituary
Cody W. Groat, 32, of Charlton, lost his life in a motorcycle accident that happened Saturday evening along Swaggertown Road, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities reported that the crash occurred around 5:58 p.m. as Groat was traveling north on a 2000 Suzuki motorcycle. He failed to navigate a curve, leading the bike to leave the roadway and crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Groat was remembered in his obituary as a U.S. Army veteran who trained as a paratrooper at Fort Benning, Georgia, and served between 2011 and 2013. He was engaged to Chelsea Lynn Marie Wilson, described as his life partner and soulmate. Their relationship was highlighted as a profound and unforgettable love.
The obituary also described a close and loving connection between Groat and his mother, Mellissa Harris, saying they shared deep affection, playful disagreements, and unwavering support for one another.
Professionally, Groat was recognized for his mechanical talent and worked in both construction and masonry fields.
