Fatal Spartanburg County car crash deaths of Nicholas Sinclair Young, Venustiano Rosendo Dionicio, and Diana Ortega Vargas – Obituary

Three individuals lost their lives in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 85 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, during the early morning hours of Sunday, June 8, 2025. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the victims were 36-year-old Nicholas Sinclair Young, 49-year-old Venustiano Rosendo Dionicio, and 47-year-old Diana Ortega Vargas.

Authorities say the crash occurred around 12:15 a.m. near mile marker 75, when a 2015 Honda Sedan traveling in the wrong direction on I-85 North collided head-on with a 2019 Toyota Sedan. All three victims died at the scene due to the impact of the collision.

The Honda then struck a 2024 Ford Expedition, which had six occupants. Fortunately, none of the individuals in the Ford were injured.

Investigations by both the Highway Patrol and the Coroner’s Office are ongoing as officials work to determine the circumstances leading to the fatal crash.
