Fatal north Harris County shooting death of Christopher Lara – Obituary

Christopher Lara, an 18-year-old teenager, was tragically shot and killed on June 12, 2025, following a dispute over rent payment at his residence in the 17000 block of Butte Creek Road in north Harris County. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the scene around 10:11 p.m. and found Lara unresponsive with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly after law enforcement arrived.

Twenty-one-year-old Angel Montanez has been arrested in connection with the shooting. Authorities believe the deadly confrontation stemmed from an argument between Montanez and Lara regarding rent. Montanez faces homicide charges and is currently in custody.
