Fatal Pharr auto-pedestrian crash death of Oscar Castillo – Obituary

Oscar Castillo, 54, of Pharr, was identified as the man who died after being struck by a vehicle on Expressway 83. The incident took place on February 21 in the 1600 block of West I-2, according to information released by the city of Pharr.

Castillo was attempting to cross the expressway when the accident occurred. The driver involved stayed at the scene following the collision.

Authorities believe Castillo was trying to shorten his route home by crossing the highway instead of using designated pedestrian crossings located at Cage Boulevard or Jackson Road. Reports indicate that he lived just one block away from the location of the incident.

Police confirmed that the driver will not face any criminal charges in connection with the crash.
