Jeff Moeller dies in fatal Scranton workplace shooting

Fatal Scranton workplace shooting death of Jeff Moeller – Obituary

Jeff Moeller was shot and killed early Saturday morning at a Lowe’s Home Improvement store in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The 36-year-old victim was reportedly gunned down by a coworker, Christopher Wasnetsky, inside the store located at 901 Viewmont Drive.

According to the Scranton Police Department, officers were dispatched just after midnight following a call reporting a shooting. When they arrived, they found Wasnetsky exiting the store and quickly took him into custody. Inside, Moeller was discovered on the floor at the rear of the store, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and lying near several shell casings. A semi-automatic handgun was located near a shopping cart approximately 30 feet from the victim.

First responders attempted to transport Moeller to Geisinger Community Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Authorities say Wasnetsky admitted to the shooting, telling officers he initially shot Moeller in the chest while he was operating a machine, then fired a second shot to the head, claiming he didn’t want him to suffer. Wasnetsky had reportedly called police himself, stating, “I’d like to report a shooting at the Dickson City Lowe’s, I was the person that did it.”

Wasnetsky later told investigators the shooting was prompted by ongoing harassment from Moeller, which he claimed had gone unaddressed. He is now facing two felony counts of aggravated assault.

The investigation is ongoing.
