Chrystofer Whyte, an 18-year-old resident of North Brunswick, has been confirmed as the victim of a deadly shooting that took place on June 12 near Pier Village in Long Branch, New Jersey.
According to officials from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, police were called to the area between the shoreline and boardwalk at 8:58 p.m. following reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found Whyte suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities believe this was an isolated incident and say there is no ongoing threat to public safety. The investigation is being led by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau in conjunction with the Long Branch Police Department.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have firsthand video footage from the scene to upload it through the official evidence submission portal.
