Fatal Cumberland County drowning death of Taylor Powell – Obituary
Taylor Powell, a 29-year-old woman from Nashville, has been confirmed as the individual whose body was recovered from the Cumberland River in Cheatham County on Thursday.
Authorities reported that Powell entered the river on June 6 near Nashville’s east bank and was last seen swimming before she made contact with a stationary barge and disappeared beneath the water. Her identity was confirmed through fingerprint analysis.
Police believe she drowned, though the official cause of death is pending autopsy results. A human leg recovered by a barge crew a day before her body was found is also believed to belong to Powell. The investigation is ongoing.
