Fatal Kansas City shooting death of Monique K. Smith – Obituary

Monique K. Smith, 34, has been identified as the woman who died following a series of early morning shootings in Kansas City on June 14. According to the Kansas City Police Department, officers were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. to the area near East 35th Street and Prospect Avenue after reports of gunfire.

 

Upon arrival, authorities found four individuals — three men and one woman — who had been shot in the parking lot of a gas station. The men sustained various injuries, with one critically hurt, while Smith was transported to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

 

Shortly after, police responded to a second related shooting on East Linwood Boulevard where a fifth victim, a man, was also critically injured. Investigators believe the two incidents are connected and have launched a homicide investigation.

 

No arrests have been made as of yet, and police are urging anyone with information or video footage from the scene to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously to the TIPS Hotline, with a reward of up to $25,000 available for credible leads.
