Fatal Zion shooting death of Jacob Christ – Obituary
Jacob Christ, a 24-year-old man from Zion, Illinois, shot and killed his 24-year-old girlfriend, Eleric Lyon of Beach Park, before taking his own life early Thursday morning, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Responding to reports of two people shot at a residence on Clover Lane just before 4:15 a.m., Zion police and fire personnel discovered Lyon had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. Christ was found with a single gunshot wound and was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he died in the emergency room.
Authorities said the couple had been dating and involved in an argument prior to the shooting. A firearm registered to Christ was recovered at the scene and is believed to be the weapon used. No additional individuals are suspected to be involved, and no charges have been filed. Officials continue to investigate the incident but consider it isolated.
