Brenda Johnson dies in fatal Fairfield County crash

Fatal Fairfield County crash death of Brenda Johnson

Brenda Johnson, a 71-year-old resident of Ridgeway, was struck and killed on Highway 34 near Jewel Drive in Fairfield County, South Carolina, late Tuesday afternoon.

According to Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill, Johnson was attempting to cross the highway at around 2:20 p.m. when she was hit by a Dodge sedan traveling westbound.

The driver of the 2008 Dodge remained at the scene and was not injured in the collision, as confirmed by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Johnson was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.

Authorities are currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with Highway Patrol officials and Coroner’s Office personnel collaborating to reconstruct the incident and determine contributing factors.
