Fatal Fort Worth shooting death of Billy Gipson
A 16-year-old boy was killed during a violent altercation that escalated into a double shooting Sunday night in Fort Worth, Texas.
Police identified the teenage victim as Billy Gipson. Officers were dispatched around 8:45 p.m. to the 8400 block of Asheville Lane, where they discovered Gipson had been shot several times in the torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another male victim involved in the same incident was transported by private vehicle to a nearby ambulance, then taken to a hospital where he later died. Authorities have not yet released his identity.
Investigators say the confrontation began as an argument and turned physical. During the struggle, the second victim reportedly brandished a rifle and fired at Gipson. The two engaged in a physical fight over the weapon. Amid the chaos, a third individual allegedly drew a handgun and fired multiple rounds, hitting both victims.
Following the shooting, the suspected shooter left the scene in a vehicle with the second victim and a witness. Police stopped the car shortly after the suspect dropped the injured victim off at an ambulance.
Authorities have identified the suspected shooter as 17-year-old Marquavius Hunt. He was arrested and charged with capital murder of multiple persons. Hunt was booked into the Fort Worth jail early Monday morning and is expected to be transferred to the Tarrant County Jail. Information on his bond was not immediately available.
The incident remains under investigation by Fort Worth homicide detectives and the gang unit.
