Fatal Houston shooting death of Kyle Lambert
Kyle Lambert, a 34-year-old resident of Wasilla, was fatally shot by Alaska state troopers late Saturday night while hiding in a camper on a Houston property, according to public safety reports. Authorities stated that Lambert displayed a handgun as troopers attempted to arrest him.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m., when several troopers were executing a search for Lambert due to an outstanding felony warrant. The warrant, issued just days earlier, stemmed from violations related to theft and drug charges dating back to October.
Troopers located Lambert concealed inside a camper on the property. Despite repeated commands to come out, he stayed inside. As officers entered the camper to take him into custody, they said Lambert pulled out a firearm, prompting three troopers to open fire.
Lambert was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman who had been inside the camper exited safely before the confrontation began, according to trooper spokesperson Austin McDaniel. He noted that authorities were searching the location because Lambert was known to frequent the area.
No other individuals were harmed during the incident. The Alaska State Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy on Lambert.
