Fatal Elkhart shooting death of Davelle Osby

Davelle Osby, 30, was killed in a mass shooting that erupted during a party held early Sunday morning on West Garfield Avenue in Elkhart. Eleven other individuals were also struck by gunfire in the same incident.

Surveillance footage from a doorbell camera captured the chaotic scene as people gathered in the street before automatic gunfire rang out, sending the crowd fleeing. Osby was among the 12 people hit during the sudden gunfire.

At a press briefing on Monday, Elkhart Police Captain Travis Hamlin emphasized the importance of video recordings, witness statements, and other evidence in identifying those responsible. He noted the large number of people present during the incident.

Mayor Rod Roberson urged the community to assist with the investigation, calling on anyone with knowledge of the shooters to come forward so that those who acted recklessly and took a life can be held accountable.

By Monday afternoon, eight of the injured had been discharged from the hospital, while three others remained hospitalized for treatment of their wounds.
