Fatal High Point shooting death of Tykese Warren
A second victim has died following a shooting that occurred last week in the eastern section of High Point.
Tykese Warren, 23, from Greensboro, passed away Sunday while receiving medical treatment at a local hospital, according to a statement from the High Point Police Department issued Monday.
Warren and 19-year-old Shawn D. Zimmerman Jr., a resident of High Point, were both struck by multiple gunshots while sitting inside a car that was parked in a driveway on the 1000 block of Terrell Drive. The shooting took place at approximately 12:30 a.m. on June 10. Zimmerman was declared dead at the scene.
As of Monday afternoon, police had not arrested anyone in connection with the case. Authorities have not shared additional details surrounding the circumstances of the incident.

These two deaths mark the first reported homicides in High Point for the year. In 2024, the city recorded three homicides, which was a 77% decrease from the 13 homicides reported in 2023. Last year’s figure was the lowest number of criminal homicides the city had seen in the past ten years.
