Douglas Freeman dies in fatal Hollywood crash

Fatal Hollywood crash death of Douglas Freeman

Douglas Freeman, a 49-year-old Navy veteran and father of seven, lost his life in a deadly car crash in Hollywood, Florida, on May 11, 2025.

Freeman was driving near Sheridan Street and 40th Avenue when his vehicle was struck by a white car driven by 19-year-old Gerson Alette Jr. of North Miami Beach. The impact caused Freeman’s car to catch fire, resulting in his death. Freeman had just dropped off his girlfriend after a Mother’s Day outing and was heading home.

Court evidence revealed that Alette’s car was traveling at 97 miles per hour just seconds before the collision—more than twice the speed limit. Prosecutors said Alette was rushing to work at the Longhorn Steakhouse and had been weaving through traffic before the crash.

Alette was arrested and appeared in court where bond was granted with a strict no-driving condition pending further legal proceedings.
