Izaiah Thor Rodriguez dies in fatal Kern County shooting

Fatal Kern County shooting death of Izaiah Thor Rodriguez

Izaiah Thor Rodriguez, 20, was shot and killed late Friday night on Stockdale Highway, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

Bakersfield police responded to the 5600 block of Stockdale Highway around 11:57 p.m. on June 13, 2025, after reports of an unknown disturbance. Officers nearby heard several gunshots coming from the area upon arrival.

At the scene, officers discovered Rodriguez suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Kern Medical but later died from his injuries.

A juvenile suspect was seen fleeing the location and was apprehended after a coordinated search in the vicinity. Police recovered a firearm believed to be connected to the shooting. The teen boy was taken into custody without incident.
