Michael Joseph Schall dies in fatal Hudspeth County car crash

Fatal Hudspeth County car crash death of Michael Joseph Schall

A man from Florida lost his life early Monday morning after being struck by a car on Interstate 10, a few miles east of El Paso in Hudspeth County.

Authorities said the incident took place at approximately 4:58 a.m. when a westbound 2013 Nissan Versa hit a pedestrian who was lying on the roadway near mile marker 66.

The pedestrian has been identified as 40-year-old Michael Joseph Schall of Marana, Florida. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan Versa, 67-year-old Dennis J. Dawson from Buena Park, California, was not injured in the collision. After hitting Schall, Dawson’s vehicle came to a stop in the center median and was rendered inoperable.

Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further information has not yet been released.
