Fatal Horry County plane crash death of Cheryle Porter

Cheryle Porter, 66, tragically lost her life in a Saturday afternoon plane crash near the Horry County state line.

Authorities confirmed that Cheryle and her husband, Philip Porter, 69, both from Spartanburg, were the victims when their twin-engine Beechcraft crashed near Old Dothan Road in Tabor City.

 

The plane was en route to Grand Strand Airport in North Myrtle Beach when it suddenly descended at approximately 250 mph into a wooded area.

 

Philip Porter, a licensed pilot since 2013, and Cheryle did not survive the accident. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol provided the details to news outlets on Monday.

 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation as authorities continue to gather information.
