Ashley Thompson dies in fatal Philadelphia fire

Fatal Philadelphia fire death of Ashley Thompson

A devastating fire in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, claimed the lives of 27-year-old Ashley Thompson, who was seven months pregnant, and two of her children, Alya and Assad, both six years old. Authorities have confirmed that the fire was set intentionally.

The deadly blaze broke out around 5 a.m. on Friday, June 13, at a residence on Corlies Street. At the time, five individuals were inside the home: Ashley Thompson, her three young children, and their grandmother.

Firefighters found Thompson deceased on the second floor of the home. Her unborn child also perished in the fire. Alya and Assad were rushed to a nearby hospital but were later pronounced dead due to injuries sustained in the fire.

The children’s grandmother managed to escape by leaping from a window while holding Thompson’s one-year-old child. Both survived; the baby is in stable condition, and the grandmother remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Investigators have determined the fire was set on purpose. One person of interest is currently in custody, though no formal charges have been filed as of now.

Family members are grieving the loss. A relative named Chyna expressed heartbreak, noting that Assad had just graduated the day before the tragedy. She described the act as unforgivable and mourned the loss of the unborn child along with the others.

Neighbor Yessenia Nieves recalled the horrifying speed of the fire, saying flames had consumed the house by the time they looked outside. She said Thompson had already jumped, and it was too late to save anyone else inside.

The investigation into the deliberate blaze continues as the community mourns this unimaginable loss.
