Fatal Summerville shooting death of Patrick Hatcher
Patrick David Hatcher, 61, a resident of Summerville, was fatally shot by police officers in his mobile home on Saturday evening during an investigation into a welfare check, as confirmed by the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office.
The incident occurred around 8:18 p.m. at the Summervillage Mobile Home Park. Summerville police had arrived at the location shortly after 8 p.m. in response to a call, and officers reported hearing gunfire as they approached the residence. Officers then confronted an individual at the scene.
Authorities later confirmed that Hatcher was pronounced dead at 9:18 p.m. inside the home. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed Wednesday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina.
The shooting is currently under investigation by both the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office.
