Fatal Honea Path crash death of Austin Montgomery McKee
Austin Montgomery McKee, a 26-year-old man from Travelers Rest, died after a serious truck accident that occurred late on the night of May 31 in Honea Path, South Carolina.
According to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, emergency services received a call around 11:30 p.m. reporting a wrecked truck on Due West Road. Responders arrived to find a vehicle that had overturned off a bridge, rolled down a slope, and landed upside-down in a creek.
McKee was transported to AnMed Medical Center following the crash. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 11:28 a.m. on June 5.
The coroner determined that McKee died from an anoxic brain injury caused by multiple traumatic injuries sustained in the crash. His death has been ruled accidental.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
