A tragic collision on the New York State Thruway near Exit 24 in Albany on Monday afternoon resulted in the death of 64-year-old William Morrissey from Middleburg Have, as confirmed by state police.

 

The incident occurred shortly after noon, around 12:11 p.m., when a tractor trailer struck Morrissey’s SUV just west of the I-90 and Northway interchange. Emergency responders pronounced Morrissey dead at the scene.

 

The crash prompted the closure of the highway’s left lane for nearly five hours while investigators worked to document and clear the area.

 

The operator of the tractor trailer was not hurt and has been cooperating fully with authorities during their inquiry. Law enforcement has stated that no charges have been filed in connection to the crash at this time.
