Laredo Man Jose David Valenzuela Arrested in North Laredo for Fatal Road Rage Incident
LAREDO, TEXAS — Jose David Valenzuela, a 66-year-old resident of Laredo, was arrested in North Laredo in connection with a road rage incident that resulted in the death of 43-year-old William Jefferson Johns.
According to the Laredo Police Department, Valenzuela was taken into custody on June 6 during an investigation at a residence on St. Thomas Drive. Authorities say the incident took place on June 5, 2025, when Valenzuela allegedly followed Johns to the location and intentionally struck him with his van after a road rage confrontation.
Johns sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he later died on June 14. Valenzuela was originally charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but additional charges are expected following Johns’ death.
Valenzuela was booked into Webb County Jail and released the same day. The case remains under investigation as the District Attorney’s Office awaits autopsy results before presenting it to a grand jury.
