London Man, 44, Arrested in Hackney for Murder of Annabel Rook Following Gas Explosion

LONDON — A 44-year-old man was arrested in Hackney in connection with the fatal stabbing of 46-year-old Annabel Rook, a co-founder of a domestic abuse charity, after a gas explosion at her home on Dumont Road in Stoke Newington.

According to the Metropolitan Police, officers responded early Tuesday morning to reports of an explosion and found Rook suffering from stab wounds inside the property. Despite paramedics’ efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and hospitalized for slash wounds. Two children, aged seven and nine, were also taken to hospital as a precaution but were not believed to be inside the home during the incident.

Police believe the stabbing is domestic-related and continue to investigate.
