California Man Charles Francis Kaufmann Arrested in Greece for Murder in Italy
ROME, Italy — Charles Francis Kaufmann, a 46-year-old man from California, was arrested on the Greek island of Skiathos in connection with the suspected murder of a woman and her baby found dead in Rome’s Villa Pamphili park in early June 2025.
According to Italian authorities, Kaufmann, who had been using the fake identity Rexal Ford since 2019, is strongly suspected of killing the baby girl. The woman, believed to be around 30 years old, was found dead several days before the baby and both were discovered naked in the park. Investigators uncovered that Kaufmann’s fingerprints were on a bag covering the woman and on a tent scrap linked to homeless shelters.
Kaufmann was detained on Friday following cellphone data tracking and is currently awaiting extradition to Italy. The relationship between Kaufmann and the victims remains unclear, and the motive behind the murders is still under investigation.
