Fatal Gaston County shooting death of Rashonda Greene

Rashonda Greene, age 45, lost her life in a deadly crash that took place in Gaston County on Monday night. The accident occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. on June 16 at the intersection of East Hudson Boulevard and Armstrong Park Road in Gastonia.

Logan Taylor, a 21-year-old from Huntersville, has been charged with driving under the influence following the incident. Along with the DUI charge, Taylor faces felony death by motor vehicle, reckless driving, and failing to stop at a steady red light.

According to authorities, Taylor was operating a white Dodge Charger when he ignored the red traffic signal at the intersection and collided with Greene’s red Hyundai Elantra. Greene was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed that excessive speed and alcohol consumption were contributing factors in the crash. Additionally, officers noted that Taylor’s vehicle did not have its headlights turned on at the time of the collision.

Gastonia Police Chief Trent Conard emphasized the tragic consequences of impaired driving, stating that one bad decision behind the wheel can have devastating effects. No other injuries were reported from the crash.
