Fatal Wisconsin Dells crash death of Caelan Markunas

A tragic UTV accident in Wisconsin Dells claimed the life of 21-year-old Caelan Markunas, who was preparing for her wedding this summer.

According to her father, Philip Markunas, the crash occurred last Tuesday while the two were running an errand. Caelan was driving her UTV, having just obtained her license the evening before, while her father followed in his vehicle. He recounted how her vehicle veered toward the roadside, and when she tried to correct its path, it spun out of control.

Philip said he immediately stopped and turned around but couldn’t locate his daughter at first. Emergency services were called, and Caelan was airlifted to a hospital, where her father remained by her side, holding her in his arms until help arrived.

During her hospital stay, Philip created a lasting keepsake by making hand casts of Caelan’s hands, with help from his brother who brought supplies from a local store.

Caelan had been looking forward to taking engagement photos with her fiancé, Mason, and had already chosen a special dress for the occasion. Her father shared how excited the entire family had been for the upcoming wedding.

She succumbed to her injuries and passed away on Saturday, a few days after the crash. Loved ones described her as someone whose positive energy made her a joy to be around.

The Markunas family had also recently marked the anniversary of Caelan’s mother’s passing, making the loss even more heartbreaking. Plans are underway for a celebration of Caelan’s life.
